I found information about this brand is quite rarely compared with other brands, some information found even wrong on internet, just now was seeing a really good stuff about the Certina serial number, i wanna share it here, hope it may be helpful.Certina serail numbersBefore 1958 the serial number could look like this.8600-2, 1600756.I'm not sure the caliber information is in the number as it all over the place and I have not been able to get any real information to break it down, and there were some models that had different serial numbers and some that only hada the production number.1958? - 1974This is how a typical serial number looks like from this period.5806.135, 499399358 is the caliber, 06 is the type of metal used in the case, 135 is the case style and 4993993 is the number of watches made.There was an overlap of the old serial numbers and the new ones sold in 1958 but I don't know how long after 1958 they sold old stock.Movement04 Cal.

These models typically have short, 3- or 4-digit case serial numbers that obviously do not conform to the standard 7-digit format. The serial numbers on these watches do not appear to have any date correlation, leaving the movement as the only method for dating the watch. An example of this type of watch is the 1942 Watertite.
